End-of-Semester Academic Advising Meeting Held with First-Year Students of the Chemical Technology Program

An End-of-Semester Academic Advising Meeting was held for first-year students of the Chemical Technology Program at Altınoluk Vocational School, Balıkesir University. The meeting aimed to support students’ academic, professional, and personal development while helping them plan their future educational and career paths.

During the meeting, students received information about internship applications and the Field Practice Course, which play a significant role in gaining professional experience and developing practical skills. The importance of these activities in preparing students for the workplace was emphasized.

Students were also informed about career opportunities available to Chemical Technology graduates in laboratories, quality control units, production facilities, research and development (R&D) departments, and environmental analysis laboratories. In addition, detailed information was provided about the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) and opportunities for continuing education at the undergraduate level.

The meeting included a presentation on the university’s Social Transcript System, highlighting the importance of documenting students’ participation in social, cultural, sports, volunteer, and community engagement activities. Students were encouraged to actively participate in extracurricular activities to support their personal and professional development.

Furthermore, information was provided about professional and personal development opportunities, including certification programs in quality management systems, laboratory practices, occupational health and safety, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and other field-specific training programs. The benefits of such certifications in enhancing employability and career prospects were emphasized.

At the end of the meeting, students shared their opinions, suggestions, and expectations regarding the program. Their feedback will contribute to the continuous improvement and quality assurance processes of the Chemical Technology Program.
